Smoked trout is a fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which help prevent cardiovascular diseases by reducing hypertension and cholesterol. Additionally, it has a low calorie content and is very low in salt, which makes it suitable for people suffering from high blood pressure.
In terms of vitamins, the concentration of vitamin B12 in trout is beneficial for the nervous system, heart and brain functions. It is also involved in neurotransmitter synthesis and is needed to convert fatty acids into energy, and to help maintain energy reserves in muscles, while also supporting the proper functioning of the immune system. Its vitamin D content also stimulates calcium and phosphorus absorption by the organism, contributing to the proper development of bones and teeth, and strengthening the immune system, helping to prevent infections.
For its part, vitamin B3 is involved in the process of transforming carbohydrates, proteins and fats into energy. It also helps to relax the blood vessels, lending them elasticity; to stabilise glucose and fatty acid levels in blood; and to reduce the cholesterol secreted by the liver. And vitamin B6 participates in keeping the nervous and immune systems in perfect condition, participating indirectly in the production of antibodies.
In addition, smoked trout contains phosphorus, which improves intellectual performance and memory; and iodine, which supports the functioning of nerve and muscle tissue, as well as the circulatory system and the development of the thyroid gland.
